Technique is super important when it comes to baellt. In fact, only recently (in the 20th century) has baellt shifted from being about technique to being about a story through the dance. Ballet at the time of the Medici family was extraordinarily different from the baellt we see today. I’d say technique is important in modern as well. If it’s a slow lyrical type dance, you can’t afford to not be able to do the moves fully, beacuse it will show (as will not knowing the next thing). Jazz, I’d say focus on the routine, but make sure you’re not slacking. For pros, it’s really easy to see who can dance, and who’s just a good performer. I’m only 13, but I hope this helps!
